The Audition
Auditions normally last 20 minutes and they consist of three parts. You will be asked to...
- read a short part from the musical.
- sing a song of your own. It is recommended that you have a song in mind. You may bring sheet music, though it is not required.
- sing a short piece from the musical with piano accompaniment. You are not expected to prepare for this.
If you happen to have dance experience, please let us know during your audition.
Q) I've never performed on-stage before. Can I still be in Next Act?
Of course! Next Act welcomes and encourages participation from all members of the MIT community, including those who have limited or no previous performance experience. All that we require is the enthusiasm to give acting, singing, and dancing a shot. Anyone who auditions for a Next Act production is guaranteed to be cast in a speaking-role, regardless of experience.
